  The Marsh Tacky Stud Book is complete.  Owners of Marsh Tackies, send Jeannette Beranger updates on new births, sales, or deaths of your horses. 

Include any information that you have on the Marsh Tackies including horse’s name, lineage (if absolutely known), current and previous owners of the horse and any other information that may be useful.

ALBC and the Marsh Tacky Horse Association will use the information for the Marsh Tacky Stud Book. You can find registration information and forms Here.

The Second Annual Gullah Celebration Marsh Tacky Beach Run
was a huge success!  An estimated 5,000 spectators watched 20 rare equines race for bragging rights and the winners cup.

Marsh Tackies Return to Hobcaw Barony

Marsh Tacky History Day at Hobcaw Barony is an all-day event celebrating the Marsh Tacky.  Activities will include a historic presentation about the breed, a trail ride, and a cookout.  A van tour will be available for registrants not riding horses.
 
Hobcaw Barony (www.hobcawbarony.org) is a 17,500-acre wildlife refuge that was the winter residence of Wall Street millionaire and presidential adviser Bernard Baruch. Mr. Bernard Baruch and his daughter, Belle, were fond admirers of Marsh Tackies and rode them almost exclusively while deer and quail hunting.   (More)

Registration:

Registration fee is $30.00 for riders (horse or van) and $10.00 for non-riders. 

A hotdog lunch with a vegetarian alternative is included.

Andrew Jackson Birthday Celebration
Andrew Jackson State Park, Lancaster, SC

See traditional crafters and reenactors - firing demonstrations, baskets, brooms, clothing and furniture.Meet a Marsh Tacky horse (Janson Cox's Mariah) like the ones used by South Carolinians in America ’s fight for Independence
 
Enjoy the sounds of dulcimer music.  Stop at the various hands-on activity tables where you may play with colonial toys, write on a slate or with a quill pen, churn butter and dip candles. Visit the museum to learn why we celebrate this native son. Don't forget to get a tour of the one-room schoolhouse by the Retired Educators of Lancaster County.

J & B BBQ will be on hand to sell their tasty specialties. Have a sweet treat from our bake sale for dessert. Come early to choose a plant from the Clemson Extension Master Gardeners of Lancaster County plant sale.

Andrew Jackson State Park preserves and protects the site of Andrew Jackson’s boyhood home in South Carolina . Among its attractions are a museum about Andrew Jackson’s boyhood, a reproduction schoolhouse, trails, a campground, and a fishing lake. The park is nine miles north of Lancaster on U.S. 521 at 196 Andrew Jackson Park Road . Admission to the park is $2 adults; $1.25 SC seniors; age 15 & younger free.
