Planning a trip to Hilton Head Island, SC? If so, drop by the Coastal Discovery Museum's Honey Horn Plantation and see Marion Gohagan's Marsh Tacky mare, Bullet, and her filly, Honey Horn May! They now live in the newly renovated horse barn and serve as ambassadors to the breed.
The Marsh Tacky is the Official State Heritage Horse of South Carolina!

Janson Cox's Marsh Tacky, Molly was made an honorary member of the Catawba Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution! Her linage was proved by DNA testing, she is over 18 and she is of course female...The Chapter voted her in and gave her a Chapter number, SC Catawba Chapter DAR 01-2010.

It's Official - Marsh Tacky Horses are Gaited!
Due to the breed’s Colonial Spanish heritage the Marsh Tacky was thought by some to be gaited, but there had never been any research conducted concerning the gaits. (More)

The Marsh Tacky Stud Book is complete. Owners of Marsh Tackies, send Jeannette Beranger updates on new births, sales, or deaths of your horses.
Include any information that you have on the Marsh Tackies including horse’s name, lineage (if absolutely known), current and previous owners of the horse and any other information that may be useful.
ALBC and the Marsh Tacky Horse Association will use the information for the Marsh TackyStud Book. You can find registration information and forms Here.

The Second Annual Gullah Celebration Marsh Tacky Beach Run on Hilton Head Island's Coligny Beach was a huge success!
An estimated 5,000 spectators watched 20 rare equines race for bragging rights and the winners cup.
